Diploma in Audio Engineering
Audio engineers are used in the installation,design, and/or operation of sound recording or sound broadcasting equipment. Often employed in recording studios, audio engineers apply these skills in recording,editing, mixing and mastering sound in order to create the final, finished product. Audio engineers may also be used in fields such as movie and television sound production, advertising,and multimedia projects.An audio engineer will usually be trained in the use of arious sound equipment including mixer consoles,signal processors, microphones, tapedecks, digital audio applications,and speaker systems.

Audio Engineering
The Audio Engineering Diploma programme offer students the opportunity to study all aspects of audio engineering. It is designed to train future professionals for the audio and media industries. Practical classes and hands-on studio time are supported with theoretical classes, giving students thorough knowledge of a broad range of audio related issues.

Course Duration

Diploma in Audio Engineering Course is arranged in such a manner that the Second batch starts in June 2010 and ends in May 2011. Theory, practical, Training classes, workshops are all included in this one year period. Classes start from 9.00 am and end at 4.00 pm with a one hour lunch break from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm.

Audio Engineering Technology
If you wish to combine your interest in music with a technical career which helps to work with sound systems, this program is ideal for you. Audio Engineering Technology combines coursework in three disciplines: electronics, acoustics, and music. After studying the fundamentals of electronics, music theory, harmony, and sound technology, students will be prepared to enter career in recording and sound, supervising installation of equipment, and supporting the end users. Possibilities include work in recording studios, live environment, radio and TV stations, audio equipment facilities, and architectural consulting firms.

Fee Structure

SIMS Management assures transparent steps while admitting students for
Diploma in Audio Engineering Course. The candidates are selected on the basis of merit, aptitude test and the performance in personal interview.
Candidates will be informed about the details of interview as and when it
happens. At the time of interview, candidates should present original certificates supporting their application form and conduct certificate. (In case of Christian applicants, letter from their parish priest is a must.)

Application form can be downloaded from below, such applications have to be submitted along with a DD of Rs. 150/- in favour of ‘Shalom Institute of Media Science’. Photo copies of certificates are not required with application.

Caution Deposit (Refundable) Rs. 10,000

Admission fee and an advance fee of Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) should be paid at the time of admission. Balance amount of Rs. 90,000 (Rupees Ninety Thousand only) should be paid on the day of commencement of the classes.

Students should pay Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as Caution Deposit at the time of admission. The caution deposit will be refunded after deductions, if any, at the time of completion of the course according to the
decision of the management.

All type of payments should be made as Demand Draft in favour of Shalom Institute of Media Science, payable at Calicut. (Cheques, M.O. or Cash payments are not acceptable.)

Minimum qualification:
+2 with 50% marks or govt. approved technical certificate or diploma. Those who await results can also apply. But they should produce original certificate at the time of interview.

Examination & certificates
Students who complete training have to do a project independently at the end of the course and have to pass written as well as practical exams. Those who pass these three areas, will be awarded a Diploma in Audio Engineering according to their grades.
